Axiron Field Note 01
Why Students Lose the Idea the Moment They Try to Symbolically Encode It
A student can verbally explain a proportional reasoning problem perfectly:
“Ten is more than double four.”
“You would need more than four cups.”
“It scales up.”
Then they try to put it into symbols:
24 = x10
And the reasoning collapses.
Teachers see this every day.
This is not “good at talking but bad at math.”
This is not inconsistency.
This is not random.
This is a layer split:
Direct Layer Reasoning vs. Indirect Layer Reasoning.
The idea vs. the symbols.
The idea survives.
The symbols do not.
Axiron Systems is building the first system that can actually parse this layer, a system that reveals the structural machinery inside every math problem and gives students a way to work from it.
If you want to watch these ideas unfold visually, I’m building a growing library of demonstrations here: https://www.youtube.com/@6QRCsystem
